Held at David Pecaut Square in Toronto, World MasterCard Fashion Week (WMCFW) showcases some of Canada’s top designers with a series of beautiful runway shows. It was a crazy five days and I’m excited to bring you guys some of my favourite moments from the week. From the backstage buzz to my outfits to the runway, sit tight because I’m ready to share some exclusive highlights, only on Kiki Khosla.
I was fortunate enough to be presented with a backstage pass where I got a sneak peek behind-the-scenes as designers, make-up artists, hair stylists and models were busy preparing for shows. Backstage is a fairly small area lined with rows of stations where models sit and are dolled up from all angles. After going through 500 cans of hairspray, 50 lbs of bobby pins, countless make-up products and hundreds of models, the amazing teams at Maybelline and Redken didn’t miss a beat getting the models glammed up with their hottest products. Here are my top three favourite products from backstage at WMCFW:
- Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara
- Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte
- Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry
Getting myself dolled up for fashion week is always an exciting mission. It’s important for me to showcase my own chic, feminine and slightly edgy style. My three favourite pieces I wore this fashion week are:
1) Sandro Paris Jagg Skirt – From the Sandra Paris fall collection, I love the textured knitwork and front zipper.
2) Pink Tartan Pleated Cuff Blouse – The sheer sleeves had me at first sight!
3) H&M Skirt with Fringes – Fringe has been everywhere this year, and the fall season is no different. I love the layered effect of the fringe as it adds the perfect amount of movement.
A woman can never have too many accessories …aint that the truth! The art of accessorizing has never been lost on me. I had a blast searching for the perfect accessories to highlight my outfits, and here at my top three pieces:
1) Marc by Marc Jacobs Acanthus Collar Fringe Necklace
2) H&M Cuff Earring (available in-store). If you want to mix things up, trying switching out one of the earrings with a simple stud. I replaced one of the earrings with my Tiffany & Co bead earring.
I’ve been attending Toronto Fashion Week for several years and there’s nothing I love more than watching a designers vision come to life on the runway. This year’s WMCFW saw an array of amazing runway shows, from soft floral to sexy leather to ethereal bridal. My favourite show this year was from Mikael D, who lit up the night with his runway of angels. Showcasing some of the most beautiful bridal pieces I have ever seen, Mikael D’s gowns had me wishing I could get married all over again (to Nitin of course!). The exquisite craftsmanship in each piece is nothing short of perfection. Hats off to Mikael D for a jaw dropping collection!
Here are my top 3 favourite runway shows this year, and my favourite pieces from each collection.
