Sneakerhead: Design Lab x Vans

With summer slowly winding down, I’m soaking up every ounce of sunshine I can before our beloved Canadian winter kicks into high gear. This summer has flown by, and while it’s been filled with weddings, parties and some amazing travels, I’ve thankfully managed to find some time each week to enjoy one of my favourite spots; lakeshore. Whether it’s Sunday brunch, walking along the harbour or grabbing a latte and doing some shopping, I’m fortunate to have such a beautiful place to visit, right at my doorstep.

I can spend hours walking along lakeshore, so comfy shoes and a casual ensemble are key for my weekly strolls. I’m a total sneakerhead, and have been obsessed with my Sk8-hi Vans lately, pairing them with everything from dresses to jeans. I love how they bring a relaxed look to any outfit, while still keeping things fun and fresh. I may not be able to resist a pair of Aquazzura’s, but there’s nothing more comforting than sinking my feet into a pair of cozy kicks (the padded ankles on these Vans are heavenly). If you’re on the hunt for a new pair of sneakers that aren’t too sporty, here are a few of my favourite styles that work well for summer and fall: Vintage Sport Old Skool’s, Gumsole Old Skool kicks, and these Leather Classic Slip-Ons.

I styled my Sk8-hi Vans with this super soft and surprisingly lightweight Design Lab Lord & Taylor Patchwork Faux Suede Shift Dress from Hudson’s Bay, which instantly caught my eye with the different shades of blue. You can easily transition this outfit from day to night with a classic red lip (I’m ga-ga over Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipstick in Cherry Red), and the perfect clutch (I’m loving this one, this one and this one).

For a daytime look, I opted for my go-to Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandoulière 35, accessorizing with some of my favourite Valentine Rouge Spirit Gemstone Bracelets and a WCFC watch I snagged from Nitin’s monthly Gentleman’s Box subscription (hey, who says it’s just for men?). I kept my make-up simple, adding a subtle hint of colour with my Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Lipstick in Energy. With the perfect amount of pigment and shine, the lipstick is great for the day.
