Top 3 Face Masks for Winter Hydration

Winter weather can suck the life from my skin, so I rely heavily on face masks in colder months to provide extra hydration, and to help restore my summer glow. From their ability to achieve instant (and lasting) results to their portable size to the fact that they’re just plain fun to use, face masks are a crucial part of my beauty regimen.

Similar to our bodies, it’s important to feed our skin food that will help nourish and heal. Start by understanding your skin type so you can select masks that provide targeted relief to your areas of concern. It can be tricky finding the right mask, so it doesn’t hurt to go through some trial and error (before I purchased my GlamGlow masks, I got a small sample from Sephora to make sure I was happy with each one). My skin gets extremely dry in the winter, so I’ve rounded up my top 3 face masks to keep your skin soft and hydrated this season. Whether you suffer from dry skin or you’re looking to get your summertime glow back, these masks won’t disappoint!

1. GLAMGLOW Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment The Holy Grail of Face Masks

While I love this mask in the winter, regardless of the season, the GlamGlow Youthmud treatment is one product I can’t live without. Originally created for behind-the-scenes use in Hollywood, this 10 minute ‘facial-in-a-jar’ provides instant results. The French Sea Clay helps to pull out impurities while the Ivy tones and tightens the skin.

How to Use

Always use face masks on clean skin. Apply a thin layer to your face and neck and let sit for 10-15 minutes. As the mask dries the colour will change, and you will feel your skin tightening. Remove with water, using slow, circular motions to exfoliate as you rinse off.

Results

A lot of face masks claim to produce instant results, and as much as you try to convince yourself your skin is brighter or more hydrated, deep down you know the only person you’re fooling is yourself. This mask is a favourite amongst my girlfriends and I because you see an immediate improvement in the condition of your skin; it’s brighter, softer and simply illuminates. I couldn’t believe how instantly bright my skin was after the first time I used this mask, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

2. Andalou Instant Soothing 1000 Roses Rosewater Face Mask Top Soothing Natural Face Mask

Sensitive skin? Look no further! Whether you’re fighting dry patches or trying to tackle redness, this natural, non-GMO face mask helps to soothe skin, leaving behind a radiant complexion. This face mask is one of the gentler ones in my bathroom cabinet, so I don’t mind using it 3 – 4 times a week when my skin needs it.

How to Use:

The Rosewater mask can be used on dry or damp skin that is thoroughly cleaned of course! Apply evenly over face and neck and leave on for 15 – 20 minutes (I leave on for 30 minutes). Rinse off with cool water and pat face to dry.

Results:

After using this mask a few times a week for a couple weeks, my skin is more hydrated. The Rosewater mask leaves my skin dewy and conditioned, and feels more like an intense moisturizing cream than a mask.

3. Clarins HydraQuench Cream-MaskA Mask That Could Hydrate a Desert

No skincare list would be complete without at least one Clarins product, right? I love the Clarins brand for their innovative, quality products that nourish and repair skin, and the award-winning HydraQuench mask is no exception. The use of the Katafray extract in this mask helps to improve the overall appearance of your skin while the Sorbier bud supports natural microcirculation. My skin immediately looks brighter and refreshed, like the signs of winter have been erased.

How to Use:

Apply mask to face and neck, and allow it to work its magic for 10 – 15 minutes. To remove, use a cotton pad soaked in toner. I use the My Blend Skin Polishing Face Scrub Cleanser to prep my skin before applying the mask, as the micro beads provide a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin before the mask is applied.

Results:

Say goodbye to dry patches this winter! Aside from the major hydration boost my skin gets with this mask, I also found it left my skin softer and more radiant.

What’s your favourite face mask?

xo, Kiki

What a great idea to exfoliate before. I’m using a clay mask but I don’t like it for winter. The hydra quench looks great. Thanks Kiki.
