Pusateri’s; the holy grail of grocery stores! This fine food shopping destination has certainly stepped outside the norm of your everyday grocery store. Breaking barriers with its delicious assortment of fresh foods, incredible catering menu, premium cafe and one-on-a-kind macaroons (seriously some of the best around), Pusateri’s Fine Foods is a force to be reckoned with. If this wasn’t enough, they’ve elevated their game by introducing an incredible pop-up shop featuring a curated rosé experience.
I had the pleasure of attending Pusateri’s Rosé the Night Away event last night, where I enjoyed some Whispering Angel wine, paired with a rosé-inspired menu prepared by Executive Chef Tony Cammalleri. Hosted at Pusateri’s Oakville Place location, I was blown away by the stunning spring-inspired décor (hello florals!), amazing food and of course the oh-so-FAB signature cocktails.
In honour of spring, Pusateri’s is celebrating with this original pop-up shop featuring the bestselling rosé from Caves d’Esclans, France; Whispering Angels …..and you’re invited to try it out! Over the next three weeks, get ready to enjoy an experience unlike any other. Shoppers and wine enthusiasts (guilty as charged!) will be given the chance to sip on this exclusive wine before it’s limited run of 5000 bottles is released to the public at the end of the month.
- The pop-up shop features three signature drinks; Frose (sorbet-like cocktail with Whispering Angel and brandy ..my fav), Sea Breeze (lemonade-inspired goodness) and Lakeside Sangria (includes elderflower, fruits and citruses).
- What’s wine without a little nibble? Get ready to tingle your taste buds with a rosé pairing platter. You’re about to embark on a culinary journey featuring Mexican roasted shrimp and cheddar creamed corn, grilled Ontario lamb with tzatziki, tomato and oregano, and a Gouda and toasted tomato grilled cheese.
- Fancy a little something sweet? Pusateri’s has you covered, of course! Dive into some champagne roses from Sugarfina to satisfy your craving!

I had a chance to catch up with the Pusateri’s team for a little insight on the craze behind this best-selling wine, and for some background on their uniquely crafted pairing menu.
Q: What about Whispering Angel wine attracted Pusateri’s?
Whispering Angel has a cult following among wine drinkers. As soon as it arrives in the LCBO it sells out immediately. We had a unique opportunity to give our customers the first taste of Whispering Angel before it arrives on the shelf and build a really unique rose themed experience – from signature drinks to food parings – that celebrates all things rosé.
Q: What factors have led to the rise in rosé wine sales over the past few years?
While this is hard to pinpoint, there has definitely been an increased demand for rosé in recent years. Wine buyers and suppliers often look to European trends when deciding how they will stock their shelves for the following year, and rosé has seen rising fame in Europe over the past few years. This naturally transcended into the North American market and this has seen an introduction of many new rosés into the marketplace that cater to the modern palate and defy the belief that all rosé is only a very sweet wine. Additionally, social media has played an important role in growing the popularity of rosé, as the beautiful colour and styling opportunities have created tons of photo content that continues to pop-up across the internet, naturally creating more of a demand. On social, rosé has gone beyond a drink to a lifestyle. Releases of celebrity rosés also surely have had an impact in making rosé more popular.
Q: What are some of Executive Chef Tony Cammalleri’s favourite foods to pair with Whispering Angel wine?
Chef Cammalleri has designed a canape pairing platter specifically for the rosé pop-up. He curated the canapes using some of his favourite ingredients that pair beautifully with Whispering Angel, including something with a bit of spice and flavour (a Mexican roasted shrimp and cheddar creamed corn) to balance out the sweetness of the wine, a rich Gouda and roasted tomato grilled cheese and something for the BBQ to inspire people this spring, which is a grilled Ontario lamb chop with tzatziki, tomato and oregano.
A big thanks to the Pusateri’s team for this interview, and for putting together an amazing event.
Hope you enjoy the pop-up lovies …it’s not to be missed!
